…and Foresight will be there.

Wicked Winter Renaissance Faire is this weekend February 19-21 at the Hyatt Regency in Princetown, NJ.

Wicked is a special adults only event and not for everyone, but for the people who love it, there’s nothing better. It’s full of classes and panels and entertainment and really good shopping and some really interesting people, as well. We’ll be there for the final year, doing readings and teaching and selling Cathy’s books.

Cathy will be teaching the Practical Empath, Adventures in Palmistry and a Touch of Acupressure (also known as acupressure for people who go to conventions). Starwolf will be teaching Wyrd Science.

Wicked has had a great run, and if you want to go, now’s the time.

so, you’ve got a cold or the flu, and life is not in a good place.

First, let me say I’m sorry and I hope that you get better soon.

Now, as I said in the previous cold and flu season post, I believe in mainstream medicine but I believe in alternative medicine too. Most of all, I believe that you should do what works best for you, whether that’s nighttime cold medicine, chicken soup or unblocking stuck chi.

That being said, here are seven alternative medicine approaches to colds and flus that are easy, affordable and that most people have access to.

Hot liquids a basic. Hot liquids increase the moisture of your 577442_3521710873755_1617833526_nmucous membranes, let clogged noses unclog, ease discomfort, and sooth sore throats. They also help with chills by warming you from the inside out. Most people think of tea, but I find hot lemonade very helpful. (It adds some vitamin C and relieves my scratchy throat.)

Soup Soup is a hot liquid that has all of the above virtues and also helps to get some easy nutrition inside of you. Chicken soup has been found to be particularly healthy and easy to digest.

Honey and Lemon If you have a heavy cough, you may want a serious cough suppressant, but for a mild cough or scratchy throat, honey and lemon can sooth and relieve the pain. Take it in your tea or by the spoonful.

Saline Spray got a stuffed up head? Saline sprays are just salt and water, and can be used as often as you need to clear congestion. Great when you blow and blow and nothing comes out.

Spicy Foods Spicy foods tend to get those noses running to clear out infections and open your head and chest up. Many of them not only contain garlic (which we already knew was good) or capsaicin (which is anti inflamatory, eases pain and anti viral) but also have vitamin C in them ( from such ingredients as hot peppers or tomatoes.)

Massage eases aches and pains, loosens up tightness in places  like your chest so you can cough better, and supports a healthy immune system. A massage from a person helps more, but even a massage pillow on your back can help

Acupressure Acupressure sounds exotic, but it’s something you can learn to do yourself to clear congestion, ease aches and pains, and support your immune system. If you’re interested in trying this,  I’d recommend the book “Acupressure Potent Points” which you can pull up as an ebook in minutes, even if you’re stuck at home.

So, do what you need to do. Find the combination that works best for your own needs.

And, once again,  I hope that you feel better soon…

It’s the cold and flu season and, now that the weather has gotten cold, there’s lots of people sneezing and whuffling and coughing and just plain having the assorted miseries.

Now, I believe in mainstream medicine, whether prescription or over the counter, but I also believe in alternative medical approaches. Mainstream medicine can have side effects, can be expensive, can interact badly with other meds you’re taking and doesn’t work the same for every single person. Many alternative methods are less expensive, more available and can be easier on the body.

My advice is to try different approaches  and see what works best for you.

And here’s 6 simple alternative health methods to help you avoid getting colds or the flu.

Vitamin C has been established for years as a great way to cut down on your vulnerability to catching cold. Most people think of pill or of drinking orange juice, but you can as easily drink lemonade, eat grapefruit or tomatoes, or spritz citrus juice on your vegetables (which, by the way, tastes great.)
577442_3521710873755_1617833526_n

Garlic doesn’t just keep vampires away. It’s an anti viral and tastes great. Try it in pasta sauce or on pizza, in stir fry, or roast it and spread it on bread.

Echinacea is an antiviral and also boosts your immune system. Try this one in pills.

Moisture The air is very dry at this time of year and that can lead to dried out mucous membranes in your nose and throat and possibly infections and sinus pain.  Putting some moisture back into the air can keep your nose and throat comfortable, let mucous flow (so it’s easier to blow out) rather than dry up, and help with nosebleeds, congestion, and infections including sinus. You can use a vaporizer (if so, remember to clean it regularly) or put a fountain in places you want to moisturize (not great feng shui in the bed room, but helps you to sleep better if you’re congested.)

Sleep During the holidays, we tend to run ourselves ragged, which is why a lot of folks come down with a cold at the present time of year. Listen to your body and give it the sleep it needs, regardless of other important things you want to/have to do. When you’re sleep deprived, your immune system gets depressed and you’re more vulnerable to catching things.

Wash Your Hands A lot. At this time of year, a lot of people have colds or the flu and one way that they caught them was because they touched things that other people with colds or flu touched first. Door knobs. Phones. Cups. They touched things that had germs on them and then they touched their face, eyes, nose or mouth and transferred them into their own bodies. Don’t want to make you paranoid, but washing your hands more can cut down on your chances of catching something and also of giving something to someone else.

Alright, that’s six different simple things you can do to decrease your risk of catching something.

But what if you catch something anyway?

Watch for Thursday’s post on things you can do to get better faster…..

Here we are in the dark time of the year, and it’s easy to get down and blue when the days are short and dark and cold. When we get the blues, the vibrational level of our  energy fields also drops down lower, and tends to attract more of the things we don’t want and less of the things we do.

How do we break out of this downwards cycle? Well, as noted in previous posts, you need to fill your own bucket. You need to pay attention to what gives you joy or strength or peace and make a point of making time for more of that in your life on a regular basis.Copy of Fotolia_44996157_M

But what if you don’t know what that is?…

Many of us have spent so much time doing the things we’ve been told are important that we’ve lost track of what actually makes us happy. We rarely get a moment to nurture ourselves… and when that moment occasionally happens, it speeds by and is gone before we can figure out what to do with it.

There’s lots of good ways to figure that out, and I’ll be talking about them in upcoming posts. For now, I’d like to recommend a book called The Woman’s Comfort Book by Jennifer Loudon. It’s a great reference for figuring out and remembering how to nurture yourself. Check it out and enjoy.

is everyone psychic? I don’t know. I haven’t met everyone yet, but we’ve got another podcast coming up where we’re going to talk about that

A little over two weeks from tonight, on Wednesday night (2/3/16), I’ll be appearing from 8-9 pm on the New Normal with Tchipakkan on http://liveparanormal.com/

31178_384818978291_172408108291_3950320_1821647_n[1]
We’ll be talking about psychic abilities- what kind of psychic skills there are, how to know if you’re psychic, ways to build your psychic skills and fun and useful things you can do with them.

If you close your eyes and concentrate now, I’ll bet that you can catch a glimpse of how much fun this show is going to be

Want to catch this interview, call in with your own questions or be part of the live chat happening during every show?

If you just want to listen, you can go to the above site, click the “Listen Live and Chat” listing under the “radio-listen/chat room” heading, and click “LISTEN HERE” next to “the New Normal”.

If you want to chat, you’ll need to go to the top of the home page on the extreme right and click “Join” to set up a personal account (it’s free but takes a few moments, so you might want to do this in advance)

There are provisions for listeners to phone in with questions, too.

And, if you can’t tune in at that time, Live Paranormal.com archives its shows for your listening at a time convenient to you.

Hope you can join me in two weeks  at 8-9 at the New Normal on liveparanormal.com

Water is a great way to clear metaphysical tools, but earth is another element that you can use for clearing unwanted energy

teal aura eyes C

  • Find a place outdoors where you can place your item on the ground. Set an intention that all negative, excessive or unwanted energy will soak into the earth and be recycled into something  positive or productive. Pick a place where it will be safe and not blow away or walk off.
  • If your item won’t be harmed by the process (as an example, not good for books), you can bury it and let the earth work on it from all directions. Set your intention as before
  • If the energy is excessive or unwanted, but not negative, you can ask a plant to take that energy. Set up a flowerpot with a growing plant in it (something sturdy is better, so you don’t give it indigestion). Ask the plant if it is willing to take any unwanted energy and transform it into something positive, and go inward to listen for a response. If the plant is agreeable, place your item on the potting soil and let the plant go to work.
  • Some crystals, such as black tourmaline, are self cleaning. Some, such as hematite,  are good for grounding out negative energy. Some, such as the combination of amber and jet, are good for clearing negative energy and transforming it into positive energy. Keep in mind that some crystals are tools that you can use to clear other tools.

How long does clearing like this take? It depends on the method, the item and the amount and type of unwanted energy. I like to give it at least one moon cycle, but sometimes you don’t have that much time. The best way to know if you’re done is to pick the item out, close your eyes, screen out other distractions, and pay attention to how that tool feels and how you feel holding that tool. If it’s busy or buzzy, if it makes you feel tense, if it doesn’t feel right, you need to clear it some more. If you feel good when you hold it, you’re ready to go.

More ways to clear tools are coming…
