Iron can be used for grounding, a iron nail carried in your pocket or purse is protection against the fay, and iron over the doors and windows will keep out spirits.

A basic Warding

This is a basic warding for a house or other space.
Materials :
4 large iron or steel nails
to do:
Start at the East , drive 1 nail into the ground . Proceed clockwise around the building placing nails at South, West and North ending at East. Visualise a circle of light connecting the nails.

A simple protective talisman

you will need :
1 iron or steel nail 31/2 to 4 inches long
6 inches of white cotton string
To make : tie 3 knots in the string and thread the nail through them.
carry in pocket or purse.

The 17th Rune is Tyr. This is the first rune of the final Ette. Its sound is “T” and its basic meaning is the God Tyr, the upholder of honor and justice among the Aesir.
Magickally, it can be used for protection, as well as workings involving legal matters or appeals to divine justice .

One final, rare type of herkimer is the “smokey herkimer”. Found occasionally in Herkimer, N.Y. and in the 4 Corners region of the Southwest, they combine the energy production of a herkimer with the protective qualities of smokey quartz. In effect, the ultimate protective stone.

Just a reminder – I’ll be teaching my class “Path of the Empath – Psychic Empathy 101” this Saturday from 3-5 at Talisman in Monroe,Ct.
This class is for psychic empaths ( people psychically sensitive to peoples’ emotions) and the folks who love them; and teaches ways to avoid being overwhelmed by the emotions and vibrations around you; gain control of your gift; and use it for your benefit and that of other folks as well.

Another way of dealing with negative energy,bad juju, maledictions etc… is to wear a mixture of Amber and Jet . The 2 stones in combination absorb negative energies and transform them into positive energy.
