One of the ways that we create or strengthen our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us is something called “self talk”. Self talk is the things we say to ourselves about who we think we are and what we think is happening to us. Most of us have stories we tell ourselves about the experiences we have in life. Some of us tell ourselves positive stories that build our energetic level up; but many of us tell ourselves stories that depress us, deprive us of hope and shoot our energetic level straight down into the basement.

  • I’ll never win.
  • That kind of garbage always happens to me.
  • I’m so clumsy (or stupid, or irresponsible; or unlovable; or…)

Any of those sound familiar?

The truth is that psychologically, when we believe the worst, we start to look for evidence that this is what is really happening; and metaphysically, when we believe the worst, the  mind – body connection goes to work to try and make that belief as “true” as possible. One way the mind-body connection does that is affecting the vibration of your energetic field. If you believe in and expect the worst, the mind-body connection starts your energy dropping into the negatives to match those beliefs, which attracts more negative experiences, which makes your mind go “See! Bad things always do happen to me!…

And then the metaphysical merry-go-round spins out of control round and down again…

But wait! All’s not lost. We have a remedy for trashy self talk coming up.

See you then…

Get ready, folks!

This week, we have the labor and joy of Thanksgiving, and immediately afterwards, we’ll be diving head first into the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Be it Christmas, Yule, Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice or some other fine holiday that you and yours celebrate, the odds are that you are going to be busy ( unless you have a personal assistant that does the whole thing for you – and where’s the fun in that?…)

There’ll be meals to plan and cook, goodies to make, expeditions to stage, presents to be bought and loved ones to be cherished – and that’s only a starter list.

And while you’re bustling around, nurturing others, it’s a good idea to nurture yourself as well.

One idea? On Dec. 11, I’ll be holding my class on “a Taste of Tibet” from 2 -4 at Talisman in Monroe, Ct. And you can be part of it.

Sound and energy are perfect partners. In this class, I’ll present an overview of some traditional Tibetan ceremonial instruments (singing bowls, gantas or singing bells, and tingshas) and show you some interesting and practical ways to use them for energy work. If we have time, we’ll also play the instruments as a group. (If you have any of the above instruments, please bring them.)

The sounds of these instruments are soothing. My body feels better when I listen to or play a ganta or bowl. And if you’re coming down off some marathon shopping or jingling those bells, jingling these bells will help you find your center again and give you a better head space for tuning into the meaning of the season.

Plus it’s fun. So if you’re ready for fun, please come…

Interested? Then call the nice folks at Talisman at 203 -261-0047 to sign up

Jingle all the way…

Come prepared to learn something new and to have fun.

And there’s still more to be said about the nature of obstacles.

And one of the biggest challenges can be your own self-esteem, and whether you have it or not.

There are many people who have a good dream, have the right dream for themselves, have a plan and support, and still crash and burn because their lack of self-esteem will not permit them to succeed even at something worthy..

So there are blocks in the road, and “co-incidences”, and challenges, and doubts, all in the service of keeping them safe by keeping them from doing something the unconscious thinks they will “surely fail at”.

Why would such a daft thing happen?

The unconscious with problem self-esteem may fear that you will fail and  tries to prevent you from being hurt by the process of failure,

Or feels that you are unworthy of success so it creates situations to cause you to fail.

Well, that’s no fun….

How can you tell if self-esteem problems are getting in the way of your dreams?

Here’s a few indicators:

  • Do you have an ongoing pattern of calling yourself names (“Stupid me!”) or making denigrating statements about yourself (“I’m so clumsy…”) ?
  • Do you have negative self talk (“You’ll never win”, “These bad things always happen to me”, “All  of the good ones are taken.”) on a regular basis?
  • Do you feel untalented or unskilled?
  • Do you feel unworthy(of health, wealth, happiness, success, love, etc.)?
  • Does the idea of achieving something amazing make you feel sick or afraid, without even a touch of excitement?
  • Would you support your dream if your friend wanted to do it, but feel that it’s impossible for you?

Things like these can be the tell tales of anemic self-esteem, and can indicate that you need to step back and examine whether you are your own best friend and loudest cheer leader –

And see if you believe in your own ability to make a dream come true…

( By the by, it’s perfectly fine to look at your dream and get anxious whether you can accomplish something so much bigger than you ever have before. It takes most of us work to expand our belief of what we are capable of.

But if you’re scared silly without any excitement, if you’re constantly putting on the brakes or “forgetting” to work on your dreams, even though you feel that this dream is something that should happen, then you may need to do some work on your self-esteem

On feeling capable of success

On feeling worthy of success.)

More on the way

Hi folks

I’m in the process of planning my classes for the Changing Times, Changing Worlds conference in Northampton, Mass in mid-November (by the by, this looks to be an excellent conference. You may want to attend this. Know I did…)

Anyway, one of the classes I’ll be teaching is an overview of ways of releasing negative beliefs.

As we’ve often discussed here, your words, your beliefs, your focus tend to shape the nature of reality around us. And many of us have negative or dysfunctional beliefs that block our ability to manifest the reality we’d like..

Beliefs like –

“Rich people are greedy, and nobody likes them.”…

“All of the good ones are taken.”…

“To be successful in your art, you have to suffer.”…

You know. The little time bombs of the unconscious that keep us enslaved to unhappy lives.

Now, if you’ve been reading me, you know I’m really into different ways of manifesting good things in life.

So it should be no surprise to hear that I’ve also made a practice of studying ways to defuse these little time bombs.

And that’s one thing I’m going to be teaching.

I’ve got a lot of material on this, and a finite amount of teaching time; so in the interest of giving folks the best class possible, I’d like to reach out to the folks here –

If you were attending this class, what kind of things would you like to learn?

Got input? Leave a comment on this note or email me at we_are_foresight@yahoo.com

Your suggestions will not only make this class better for all of the students who attend it, but also may suggest directions I should take the posts here.

Thanks in advance for any input

When I was a little girl, we used to count white horses for good luck….

White horses were relatively uncommon. Whenever you saw a white horse, you said “Lucky, lucky white horse – ding! ding! ding!” as you tapped the palm of one hand three times with the thumb of the other, counting that horse.

When you got 100 horses, you were entitled to a wish!

And then you started counting again…

Basic folk magick at its’ best…..

But, what if it’s based on a flawed theory?

The theory that good luck and good fortune are rare, unusual and hard to tap into?….

What if, instead, good luck was plentiful and all around us, like the air ?

What if luck were something that we were naturally always in touch with, like the ground beneath our feet?

What if wishing were as easy and effective as breathing or dreaming or burping?…

Now these are not the beliefs that most of us have about good luck….

But, since we know that the beliefs we hold tend to shape the nature of reality around us, isn’t the belief that good luck is easy to access and happens often worth considering?

And, since we have Free Will, shouldn’t we chose the beliefs that are most likely to help us be healthy, prosperous, wise and happy?

Think about it…

What do you often see that might become a symbol of good luck on the way?….

In The Foolishness of the Wise, we talked about the astounding phenomena where we have knowledge and skills and talents, and we still neglect to use them.

How we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Where we know what to do and still do not do it…

In short, how we sabotage ourselves.

Well, that’s no fun! And don’t we feel foolish when we come through the chaos, only to realize that we had the tools to make it simple/easy/fun/ but somehow didn’t think to use them?…

I hate it when that happens ;-)….

So how do we get past that?

Well, if you’ve got a deep-seated need for self sabotage, you’ll need to start working on your own interior landscape, which is a whole bunch of different articles.

If, on the other hand, you’re just losing track of your ability to use your own amazing powers upon your personal behalf, I’ve got a couple of suggestions for you.

(Three, to be exact. Because three is a magic number…)

1) Build a better life routine –

One way of incorporating better living skills on a regular basis in your life is to build a habit. (Hey, it worked for toothbrushing, no?)

So set a good intention for the day  before you climb out of bed…

Send yourself a little Reiki while you’re taking a shower…

Set your alarm watch to remind you to visualize for a minute or two several times a day….

Make manifesting a better life a regular habit!

2) Surround yourself with magickal environmental cues –

If  the world around you is filled with reminders to do the things that give you health,  joy and peace, you’re more likely to do them.

So make a “Reiki?” label to attach to the first aid kit….

Frame a saying that makes you feel joyous and powerful, and hang it where you see it first thing in the morning…

Tape an index card with the word “Breath” to your dashboard to remind you to take a quick relaxation break before you start driving…

3) Enlist your best supporters to remind you how powerful you are –

Not every one of your friends and family will be good at this.

Some will actually work against you, whether from mistaken beliefs, jealousy, or fear that you’re deceiving yourself; but most of us can identify at least one person that we can trust to tell us when we’re on the wrong track and remind us that we do have the power to deal with things, whether it be using healing energy on an illness, manifesting a better day,  or seeing clearly the reality of what is currently happening.

Get those people on your team….

Ask them to remind you when you have the skills but forget to use them…

And commit to listen to them….

There you go. Three ways to get your mojo working.

Now, what kind of day are you going to manifest tomorrow?

Now, I’m not claiming to be particularly wise.

Practical, mostly…

Fairly well-informed, probably….

But wise is something that I’m still working on here.

(It’s good to have goals.)

And looking both at folks far wiser than I am yet and at myself, one of the biggest pitfalls I find is this –

We know what to do and yet we do not do it!

We have the power to heal ourselves in body, mind and spirit…

Make our days go smoothly…..

Manifest abundance, joy and serendipity…

And still we do not do it!

Now what’s up with that?

I call it “the foolishness of the Wise”. It’s that phenomenon where you have all the knowledge you need to succeed, but can’t or won’t or just forget to use it on your own behalf. Where you know better, but still you mess up, over things that you could easily overcome.

The fact that even the Wise are not proof against their own folly….

And you know what? This seems to be a very human condition, one that stretches across all types of folks.

A Universal Foolishness….

So what do we do about this? How can we stop shooting ourselves in the foot? Running ourselves through the same wringer? Making the same mistakes when we have the tools to transcend?

What do you think?

One way is on the way…
