We’re all on the path to enlightenment, but we also all have different stars to steer by, different goals we’re heading for and different paths forgetting there. That’s fine though- it’s not a one size fits all universe.

As if that were not enough, most of us face challenges along the way, and one of the primary challenges is clearing away the stuff in our lives that isn’t really about our journey so we can see the things that are.

Clearing. Simplifying.  Finding our focus and our life’s mission and then staying on the path…

Ran across a one year course on doing just that. Thinking about taking it to see what I can clear away and what I’ll find if I do. Amongst other things, I find it interesting that, while the course is not free, the student gets to pick what he’ll pay for it.

Thought this might be of interest to my other fellow travelers in the universe, so I’m sharing the link here.

A Year To Clear What is Holding You Back!

Check it out and see if this could be the next step on your journey.

Every year at New Years’, folks set goals for what they want to do with their lives in the new year. For many of us, that means good intentions that fall apart by the end of January.

Now, I’m fine with the idea of “lose 5 pounds” or “start walking more” that are the frequent flyers for new years’ goals; but I think that we can get more out of this if we set goals that are part of our Life Mission.

Everybody has a Life Mission- something we bring to the Party of Life that noone else can bring, and doing things that are part of that mission make our lives fun and beautiful and meaningful.

(For more information on your Life Mission, search this blog or click here and here and here to start out…)

So why am I talking about New Year’s goals? For two reasons:

  • One -Because we’re almost halfway through the year, and this is a good time to look at whether you’re actually moving in the direction of your dreams, as opposed  to just beating out forest fires or doing the things that people tell you that you should be doing. What have you done in 2012 that feeds your spirit and is part of your Life Mission?

             And

  • Two -because it’s a great time to climb back on that horse. Yes, I know that most people break those new year’s goals almost as fast as they make them, but just because you didn’t immediately succeed, doesn’t mean that you have to give up altogether.

Your dreams are important. your Life Mission is important. And it’s important that you do the things that feed your spirit and the spirits of those around you.

Almost halfway through the year, so what are you going to do?

When climbing the ladder of sucess,

it’s important to be sure that your ladder is leaning against the right wall….

We’re here at the beginning of a brand new beautiful year.

Many of us have big plans for this year. Many of us have set great resolutions.

  • Get in shape;
  • Lose weight;
  • Find love;
  • A better job;
  • Make more money;

And many of our resolutions will fall away into nothing by mid-January

What’s up with that?

One of the biggest problems with New Year’s resolutions is that many times we’re picking goals that we think we should want, as opposed to what’s really important to us.

And our heart knows what we really want. Our heart isn’t really in those “oughta” goals.

And so, life happens. things come up. And somehow we never do the work we need to make those resolutions a reality.

That’s a path for failure. So lets not go there.

Just like we did last year, I’m going to ask you to do a little exercise to get in touch with what you really want.

Take a moment…

Close your eyes and take a deep breath…

And visualize for a moment who you’d like to be at the end of the year….

………………………………………………………………………………………………

Then open your eyes and write down what popped up.

Do any of your present goals send you in that direction?

Then you may need more or different goals.

Chose the goals that speak to your life mission

And work your dreams….

And have a beautiful, successful 2012

A reporter, researching an article on tatoos, was looking through a book of flashes, examples of what images were available. On one page, he was surprised and a bit shocked to see a large ornate design that prominently featured the words  “Born to Lose” .

The reporter turned to the tatoo artist, asking him “What kind of person would get a tatoo like that?…”

“One who had it tatooed first on his mind long before before I touched his skin…” said the artist….

…..

So, what do you have tatooed on your mind?

On Sunday, we talked about the power of “Yes”. About saying “Ooooo! Aaaah! YES!” (…Thank you, Daniel Greenwolf…) to the things that that support you in living your Life Mission, and being extraordinary.

But part of the power of “Yes” is also knowing the power of “No”. Knowing when you need to say “No” in order to live your dream

  • “No” to fear- fear of failure or fear of sucess;
  • “No” to people who belittle or drain you;
  • “No”” to beliefs that bind you or make you less than you are;
  • “No” to living your life in a rut;
  • “No” to busywork, that distracts you from the activities that fuel your dreams;

Once you know your Life Mission, it’s a good choice to use it as a guide for the best way to spend your time, your energy and your resources. If you’re a painter, to paint. If you’re a healer, to heal. If you’re an inventor, to invent.

And saying yes to the things that support your dreams also means sometimes saying no to some of the things that don’t.

I’m not saying that everything you do needs to be about your life mission. There’s room in your life for T.V. and pizza, as well as for doing extraordinary things. But, long term, you’ll find yourself more happy and pleased with your life if you’ve focused more on living your mission than on random activities.

Saying “yes” to the things that complete you, and “no” to the things that just take up time.

One of the mantras I’ve been working for years is “I can do anything I want. I just can’t do everything  I want….”

 And chosing the things that sing to me, make my life better.

So I wish you the power of  “yes” and the power of  “no” and the wisdom to know which to use when….
