Right now, we’re living in a world in flux. Not only the everyday stresses, but lots of other big things going on. Terrorism. Political upheaval. The economy. War.

And a lot of people find this all overwhelming. Even scary.

That’s a reasonable reaction- but there’s one that’s even better.

Don’t focus on what’s wrong in the world. Focus on what’s right instead. Count your blessings. Give thanks

The Law of Attraction says that what we focus most on determines what we get more of, whether by attracting it to us or by manifesting it out of nowhere. When we focus on what’s right with our world, we shape it into something better and we attract more of the good stuff

And in this day and age, that may not only improve our lives, but also the lives of the people around us as well.

So, on this day of Thanksgiving,  take time to give thanks. As you enjoy your turkey, count your blessings and give thanks for all of the things that are good in your life and everything that is working

And make this world a better place

We know that, when our vibrational level is higher, we tend to attract better people, things and experiences into our lives.

We know that nurturing ourselves is one way to fill our buckets and raise our vibrational levels.

And still, many times, we forget to do it.

So, what’s up with that?

Most of us are raised with beliefs that work against nurturing ourselves

  • Don’t be selfish.
  • Work before play.
  • Put others before yourself.
  • Don’t be lazy

Now, there’s truth and value in all of these beliefs, but they completely overlook that we also need to take care of ourselves. To nurture ourselves. To do things that make us happy. To laugh and rest and fool around.

And that, when we don’t nurture ourselves, when we don’t fill our own buckets, sooner or later we burn out.

We need to put ourselves on our own lists. To give self nurturing theCopy of Fotolia_44996157_M same value that we do working hard or taking care of others.

One way to do that is to make a date with yourself

  • write “Shopping trip” on your calendar
  • put “meditation” in your date book
  • record your favorite shows

Make a firm commitment, preferably in writing, of what you’re gonna do and when you’re gonna do it to fill your bucket

and then keep that date…

Ever have one of those days when things all just seem to go wrong? And the more you try to put them to rights again, the worse things get?

Had one of those yesterday. First the printer wouldn’t scan in a document I needed to email. Then the computer said to re-install one of the software suites.

Then, when I tried a system restore, to see if I could go back to when things were working, my browser kicked me out and wouldn’t open up again, and my antivirus flipped out and told me I was corrupted

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deep breath

ah!

and I only noticed then what was going on

Something would go wrong- which stressed me out- which dropped my energy to a lower vibration- which attracted more bad stuff- and something else would go wrong…..

Eeek! In certain cases, it’s lousy to be good at manifestation…

But it’s good to be aware, and to notice what I’m doing to myself

So what’d I do? I took a break. I walked away from the computer, took a ride to my favorite drivein, got a cherry coke and played music that I liked there and back

And when I returned, I was calmer and cooler, with some new ideas about how to approach this and some much better energy- and things resolved themselves surprisingly easily after that

Remember- sometimes you gotta hang in there and see things through-

But sometimes you gotta take a break….

Some days are brilliant- full of light and love and laughter; and those kinds of days fill our buckets, and raise our vibration levels so that we attract more and more positive people and things and experiences.

Some days, on the other hand, are not

Sometimes our lives are full of stress and chaos and enthropy and everything seems to be falling apart. Some days are like being nibbled to death like baby ducks, and we find ourselves stuck in permanent cranky mode

and, when the things around us that are demanding our attention are unpleasant and negative, we tend to focus on them. That drains our buckets and drops our vibrations into more negative levels- and that attracts more negative stuff (which drops us further down into the negative spiral)

When things are going wrong, the tendency is to put your focus on them. It’s true that you want to pay attention enough so you don’t further traumatize the loved one in crisis or drive into the pot hole that’s just opened up in front of you, but that doesn’t mean that you always have to give all of your attention to what’s going wrong

You can also put some of your focus on things going right. On people you love. On music that makes you want to move. On stories  that make you smile. and on all of the other things in life that bring you up again

and even that small amount of positive focus will fill your bucket a little bit, bring your energy back up and start attracting better things

(which raises your energy a little bit further)

When you’re surrounded by things falling apart, it’s sometimes hard to think of positive things to focus on. You know they’re out there, but you just can’t think of them right now

the trick is to be prepared

When life is good, or at least ok, sit down and make yourself a list of what’s good in your life. Make multiple copies of this list and put them where you can easily put your hands on them

Then the next time things go wrong, as soon as you get some breathing room, grab a copy of your list and focus on what’s good in your life.

Fill your bucket- and start attracting better things….

I talk a lot in this blog about the Law Of Attraction- about how you tend to attract more of what you focus on and also other things that vibrate at the same level as those things

So if you’re focusing on crap, you tend to attract more crap; but if you’re focusing on chocolate chip cookies, you not only bring more cookies into your life, but also more hot fudge sundaes as well

It works this way because our focus sets the level your aura vibrates at, and that determines what you’ll attract/create

How do you work with this? There are lots of different ways to do this, but one way is gratitude work

There are plenty of types of gratitude work. One of my favorites is that, at the end of my day, I list 5 things that I am grateful for on FB

Sometimes it’s things that have happened in my day or people who have been  a blessing to me. Sometimes it’s more global things, like modern medicine or toilet paper.

By focusing on what’s a blessing to me, I build a field of positive energy and gratitude- which draws more good things

And then I add a comment for something good I want to come- just to set the vibration for the future

Two weeks ago, I wrote a post about fear and stress (Things A Little Strained…) . How it can change your energy to a more negative level, which can cause you to attract more negative experiences. And some ideas about how to deal with that

and I thought that you might like to hear about the followup.

We’d been facing tech challenges, a tight budget and a whopping tax bill.

Stressful, right? You bet.

So I did some things to nurture myself and shift my energy into as positive a level as I could.

And, in the week that followed

  • we figured out how to deal with the tax bill.
  • the caseload on my day job began to climb again, and
  • after months of looking hard, Starwolf was offered a job- and at a higher rate than he was making before.

The last one is even more exciting when you realize that

  • he was looking in places online that he hadn’t before because I asked him to
  • he found out because of that that the online and physical world versions of job hunting agencies don’t always seem to share info with each other
  • he ran across a job fair that he wouldn’t have found if he wasn’t doing this
  • he popped into this faire
  • he found that the person who recruited him to that agency was gone, but the person he was talking to had something she thought he’d be a good fit for
  • he got an interview within a couple of days and was offered a job

Lots of co-incidences? Maybe- but the other co-incidence is that this happened right after I made a conscious effort to lift my energy to a more positive level.

Hmmmmm…..
