I’m typing here in the wee small hours of my 57th birthday and I’m thinking a lot about goals right now

About goals that I’ve had and ones that I will have

About goals achieved and ones that I’m still working on

About goals that it’s time to let go of and ones that I need to keep on trucking on

And a birthday is a fine time to take stock. To look at what you’ve done, and what you want to do. To set some goals and put other ones aside to make room for them

It’s been another challenging year, but still I’m moving on the path to my dreams. And today, in and amongst all of the festivities, I’m making time to figure out where I am now, and where I’m going next, and what I need to do to get there.

When you sail a boat, 90% of the time the boat will not be heading directly for your destination. You need to tack from side to side, in order to catch the wind in your sails to propel you forwards. You get where you’re going by tacking, but also keeping your eye on your destination and bringing yourself back on course

Life’s kinda like that too. A lot of tacking and then getting back on course

A lot of people kind of drift through life and then wonder “what happened?” I’m finding that the key to accomplishing things I’m glad to have done is to know what I want, set some goals to make that happen, and check in to make sure that I’m still on course

So that’s what I’ll be doing today. Setting my new destination, and bringing myself back on course.

Happy birthday to me and happy my birthday to you as well

Are you on course?

It’s been a challenging year full of lots of obstacles.

Health. Finances. Writers’ block. The needs of the people around me, especially the ones that I love.

It’s been a challenging year- and there may well be a reason for that…

On past birthdays,

I’ve written about pursuing your dreams in life, and using your birthday as a time to start doing that

That’s still important- but it’s well to keep this in mind…

When we let go of living the life that other people have chosen for us- when we chose to pursue our dreams and take the Hero’s Journey, sooner or later obstacles will pop up.

We commit to a dream- and those obstacles are there to test our commitment to our dreams. We either go back to an ordinary life- or we continue on the Hero’s Journey and overcome the challenges in our path

Midnight has come and gone and I’m writing this in the wee smalls of the night. My challenges have come, and they tell me that I’m on the right path. Overcoming them will only strengthen my commitment to my dream

It’s been a hard year- but it’s been a good one- and I’ll keep heading in the direction of the Life Mission that I’m here to do.

Wishing you happy trails and happy birthdays as well

Where has the year gone?

We’re galloping towards my 55th birthday on Monday, July 22nd, and it seems like the year is slipping by like lightning. There were lots of things I’d planned to do with this year. Some of them I have- and some of them I haven’t- and to be this far into the year with those things still to do could be a daunting thing.

I’ll tell you a secret though. It isn’t- and it doesn’t have to be.

Everyday is a new day, bright and shining and full of promise. Everyday is a new beginning, a new chance to accomplish something amazing. Everyday is a new chance, a chance to find joy and meaning and the secret to what you are here to do in this world.

Every day.

When I was young, my family was often on a summer trip during my birthday. I’d have one birthday celebration with my family on my birthday itself and another with my friends when I got home- and so the concept of the birthday week was born. Little celebrations and delights spread out over time, making life that much sweeter and more magical.

And now I’m in my birthday week- and I’ll be spending part of it looking at what I still want to accomplish in my life in this year and getting prepared for a new kick-off for my dreams.

It’s my birthday week- but if you like, it can be yours too.

What do you want to do with the rest of your year?

Happy birthday to me.

Happy birthday to you.

Happy birthday to all of us- and many happy dreams realized for us all in the months to come.

For the past two years, it’s been my pleasure to blog on or around my birthday on the joys of getting older and of living your dream, regardless of your age.

If you’d like to revisit these posts with me, please check out

Happy Birthday to Me – Some Thoughts on Free Will and Time

Happy Birthday to Me, Again

Happy Birthday to Me, Again, Part II

And, trembling (happily) on the eve of my 53rd birthday, I thought it’d be fun to look at the possiblities…

A lot of people think that, as you get older, all the excitement and fun goes out of things. That you’ve got to settle down/ grow up/be realistic/act your age.

That you’re basically dead inside, but haven’t had the sense to fall down yet.

Respectfully, I say nonsense. If you want to live that way, you can, but it’s not required of you. You can chose, instead, to have an amazing life…

You can age with style and panache. You can learn to tango with Life. You can do new and exciting places, meet and befriend fascinating people, accomplish astounding things, live (and love) your dreams. You can find your courage, spit in the eye of doing what’s expected of you and live extraordinary.

It’s never too late to have a happy childhood…

Since last year at this time, I’ve published my first book “Adventures in Palmistry” and am hard at work/play on my second on surviving and thriving as a psychic empath. I’ve written about a lot of interesting things on this blog and rejoiced in the comments and feedback I have gotten from you fascinating readers.  I’ve learned a lot about manifestation, and writing, and friendship, and courage. I’ve helped people, and learned better how to let people help me. I’ve read a lot of books, made a lot of friends, and had a lot of adventures.

And the best is yet to come…

The best is yet to come for you, too.

Tommorrow’s my birthday. A birthday is a great day to make a start towards chasing your bliss and doing something excellant.

And it would be my pleasure to share my birthday with all of you.

What wonderful goal would you like to take a step towards starting on July 22, 2011?

Now, make a wish…

Blow out the candles…

And happy birthday to all of us.
