Was reading a few blogs the other day, and ran across one where the blogger was talking about the movie “Inception” and the nature of dreams. He noted that, at one point, during a gun battle, DiCaprio’s gun isn’t having the desired impact.  In response, his colleague tells him to use a little imagination, and as an example, he pulls out…a somewhat bigger gun.

The blogger felt that was anticlimactic , because, with a dream, you could make almost anything happen.

Fair enough, that.

But it got me thinking….

What could you do if your mind didn’t tell you that it wasn’t possible?

I’d say that the bigger gun mentally worked for the agent in the movie because it was within his context of what  was actually possible. In dreams, you could do anything but, for many people, something that was too far out of their mental construct of possible would trigger mental resistance and block the whole arrangement

So he could accept a bigger gun, and there it was…

We see the same thing in the energywork of manifestation. Theoretically, anything is equally possible, and it’s as easy to manifest a diamond as a parking space, but most folks have mental limits that see the parking space as easy and the diamond as difficult.

And so they block the bigger item from coming into their lives.

This is why you see a lot of people who use the Law of Attraction to get good parking spaces, but very few lottery wins.

In the movie “the Matrix”,

  • The average mind accepts “reasonable” limits.
  •  The rebels are standouts because they accept as possible skills that reach the extraordinary end of normal human possibility.
  • The “Smiths” are deadly because they go beyond the limits of “normal” human possibility, but still follow natural limits.
  •  Neo is extraordinary, because, for him there are no limits…

And so, Neo can fly……

Food for thought.

What are your limits?

And, could you fly?….

As I said in my last post, it’s a New Year – and many of us are standing around trying to figure out what we want to do with it.

Some of us set resolutions that are too general and overwhelming. Ones that we end up dropping because they’re too much for us to face. We talked about that in the last post – about setting smaller goals and taking baby steps towards our dreams so that we keep moving forwards and don’t give up.

But a lot of us have the opposite problem. We underestimate ourselves. We think of ourselves as limited/lacking/mediocre/unable to achieve great things.

And because we think of ourselves as background singers in the rock concert of life, we sell ourselves short. And don’t aspire to what is great in each of us (and each of us has something special we are here to do)

Sometimes we need to try to Dream Big.

When I want to dream big, I look for places to get inspired

I’ve got one for you today.

Last year on my birthday, I got to thinking about the experience of getting older and how to love it as it happens. And I had the honor of sharing those thoughts with you 🙂

Here we are again – it’s my birthday (52nd this time). And this year, I spent part of my birthday living my dream.

I’ve always been a writer – poems and articles and songs and this blog, of course. But I decided that it’s time to dream bigger. So this year, I’ve been working on publishing my first book. I’ve been celebrating my birthday today by spending part of it  preparing my manuscript for publication.

Got to thinking-what better use for a birthday is there than using part of it to figure out what makes your heart sing and then going for it? Do I choose to live another year of fitting into other people’s ideas of what I should be? Or do I  choose to have my best year ever, living my Life Mission and becoming more perfectly me?

Lots of people live lives of quiet desperation, or sorry mediocrity. But every single one  of us has greatness within us, and every one of us can choose to live in keeping with that Light that shines within.

A birthday’s a great day to set sail on the next new adventure.

If it’s not your birthday yet, I’ll loan you mine….

Or you can start to live your dream on the 1st of January.

Or Thanksgiving Day.

 Or  next Tuesday…

Here’s wishing us all our best year yet!
