Third Editing Pass Complete

No home calls last Thursday, which gave me a lot more time to polish up the current manuscript on Living in Interesting Times and get it ready for my beta readers. I:

• added a third visualization for time travel  to the appendix,
• roughed out and refined glossary definitions,
• triple checked for errors, such as missing words and missing punctuation,
• did a third read through of the entire thing and polished as I went,
• confirmed email addresses for my betas,  and sent out  chapters  to read at their convenience.

This manuscript has now gone on a vacation with my beta readers, and, while I’m waiting to hear back from everyone, I can go back to working on book two in my urban fantasy series.

….and an Idea Emerges From the Mists…and It Looks Like a Good One!…

Usually, I start the year with some idea of what I’m going to be writing this year’s book about.

I usually get some kind of an idea or headup or omen or clue, sometime between the time the previous book comes out and the first few weeks of the new year.

• I find the number of people having a specific question or challenge goes up.
• I have more people talking about something online
• I receive a random comment that jumps out at me (my favorite being “Oh. Are you writing about “A”? I thought you were writing a book about “B”  That was my cue for what the next book was gonna be.
• or other things like that

This year has been a little different though. I’ve had lots of ideas and concepts, yes, but none that really jumped out and said “THIS! This is what you need to be writing about.” I’ve started on several ideas and found them all decent and worthy to write about but none had that “A-ha!” moment I usually get.

Until now…

Over the period of the last few days at the end of the week, I’ve had an idea gradually appear out of the mists, and I think that it’s the one I’m looking for. So I’m gonna flesh it out and start working on it and see if it lives up to its promise.

We’ll see how it goes…

This Has Been a Crazy Year…

This year, I had had to change horses in midstream in my writing (actually well past midstream.)

I had to change topics for this year’s book. Start again from scratch. Get reviewers and editing help online and share my work as I go along with them.

And writewritewrite.

Most of all, writewritewrite….

And here’s your update on that.

I’m within two chapters of completing my rough draft, and most of what is already written has gone through editing for second draft and then gone on to my reviewers and editor. I have some appendixes to polish, a glossary and an index to put together, the front pages and cover to create.

And I’m chugging right along.

My target is to have the final finished books in my hands for the Changing Times, Changing Worlds conference on the second weekend of November.

Will I make it? We’ll see…

But I’m heading in the right direction….

Next Book – A Call for Input

Hi folks

Writing on my next book is officially underway- but I’m looking for input from people around me to help make it a better book.

This book is going to be about Christian- pagan marriages- about the obstacles and challenges we face in this kind of mixed marriage, how you can avoid or overcome those pitfalls, and how to make a pagan-Christian marriage work.

When my husband Starwolf and I were first engaged, being bookish people, we looked for a book like this to give us some ideas about the territory we’d be travelling, but there was nothing out there at that time. I’ve kept looking over the years we’ve been married, and after almost one quarter of a century, there’s still not a book out on this subject. We’re  not the ultimate experts in this field, but we’ve been married for over 23 years, so we must be doing something right, and we’re hoping that our experience can make this adventure easier for those who are now on the same path.

And I’m looking for more input to help make this a better book.
