Hi folks,

I’m working on a project. And I’d like your input, if you’re willing to help.

As a palmreader, I’ve noticed that there aren’t many other folks reading palms these days. That’s a pity, as it’s a lovely, accurate, empowering method of divination.

Since I didn’t want palmistry to become a dying art, I started teaching it, both in person and online. I was told repeatedly that my students hadn’t been able to learn palmistry from books, but that my ways of explaining things left them able to read palms where they couldn’t before.

I’m honored by this.

So, as the next logical step towards reaching as many people as possible, I’m currently writing “Adventures in Palmistry”…

This book is based on the online and live courses I teach on palmistry. It’s 52 “bite-sized” lessons taking you step by step through what I’ve learned in 40 years of practicing the art.

The book includes lots of information that makes reading palms simple. It also includes stories about my experiences in the field (with identities carefully concealed-don’t worry, folks).

I’m currently in the process of final draft/ edit of my manuscript, but I want to do my best to make sure this book meets the needs of as many readers as possible.

With that in mind, I’ve got questions for you-

If you were reading a book like this, what kind of information would you want to see in it? What would be helpful to you in learning palmistry? What would you find interesting?

I’d appreciate your feedback,as it’ll help me be sure I’m covering what folks need and want to know.

In my last post, I discussed the ethics of using magick and metaphysics in regards to sex, romance and love.

It’s o.k. to use magick, metaphysics, psychic ability or prayer to send out a message to the Universe that you’re available, attract a good partner, or help yourself find that partner.
It’s not o.k. to use magick, metaphysics, psychic ability or prayer to create love where there is none, coerce someone into a relationship, or control their life or choices…

The key point is Free Will. Any time your energywork overrides the Free Will of another, you’re wandering past the grey areas into bad energy; and are likely to be creating a karma explosion (For more info, please see post for Feb.9, 2010 or the Free Will articles in May of 2009 ).

So, you better be good, you better watch out…

Keep the magick in love to the good vibrations.

6 ) Massage- Massage not only relaxes tight muscles and joints, but also helps the body to let go of toxins left from illness or stress. It also feels great. You can buy a certificate for a professional massage, do the massage yourself.

7 ) Guided visualization or meditation CD- These trigger the mind-body connection to support health and relaxation, release limitations and improve personal skills. Carefully select one to go with a goal you know your love is working on,or offer a gift certificate to pick his own.

8 ) Chocolate- Tastes great. Boosts endorphins like love does. Sacred to the Aztecs. “Nuff said.

9 ) Diamond ring- on beyond the mainstream connotations, diamond supports loyalty and fidelity in a relationship. It reconciles quarrels, builds self-confidence and resolves sexual issues.

Love magick?….

Valentine’s Day’s coming…

The other day, I was talking to a friend of mine who works in a New Age store. She told me that on that day, she’d seen the latest in an ongoing stream of people who come into the store looking for someone to cast a love spell ( intended to make someone in particular fall in love with them…)

As usual, she’d had to tell her visitor that spells like that did exist, but that they were unethical, and that no one in the shop would cast one….

So what’s up with that?

Well, magick connected with love (and, for that matter, lust…) is trcicky. There’s some love magick that’s ethical. There’s some that’s seriously wrong.

And here’s how you tell the difference…

The key point determining whether love magick is ethical or not is the question of respect for the Free Will of others.

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you may realize that Free Will is very important to me ( Need an update? Chose to jump to “Free Will Rocks” and “Free Will Still Rocks! Magick and Free Will” in May of 2009 …or not…).

In magick in general, it’s questionable to cast spells/do energy work/do workings that interfere with another person’s Free Will/ability to chose their own path.

Even if you think the results would be good for them…

Even if what you’re working towards is someting you deserve…

It’s not right to interfere with the Free Will of others.

( The one exception is to limit the ability of someone to harm others-and this choice needs to be made conservatively, to apply the minimum limitation to Free Will..)

Free Will is particularly important in magick concerning love. Since energetically, what you put out is what you get back, if you use magick to compell a specific someone to sleep with you or fall in love with you, you’re setting up a relationship that’s a ticking time bomb and building up a mass of bad karma that will tend to boomerang back at you.

So what’s ethical magick in love?

Let’s try some examples:

Cast a spell to call your perfect partner to you-good;
Cast a spell to make Joe at work fall in love with you-bad;
Do a working to make yourself attractive toothers-good;
Do a working to drive Suzy mad with desire-bad:

Get the idea? The ethical options help a positive outcome along, but don’t enforce your will on others. The unethical magick involves controlling others and taking away their right to chose…

So, Valentine’s Day is on the way. And Love is all around…

Just be sure that you’re making good vibrations.

Free Will Still Rocks! Magick and Free Will

In my last post, I went over the basic concept of Free Will – how you have been given the gift of the ability to make choices and therefore affect the quality of your life. We also looked at how the things you focus on or don’t focus on can affect the kind of people, things and events in your life.

This post is about the Free Will of others. Just as you have Free Will, so do other people have the right to make their own choices, even if we think those choices are foolish, wasteful or wrong. Painful (especially if you care for those other people) but true.

If those other people are making what you’d think of as bad choices, it’s o.k. to try to persuade them to change their choices. Reason with them, nag them, beg them, offer incentives or ultimatums…

That’s all cool, because that person is still free to make his or her own choice.

The ethical line in magick is that it’s not o.k. to take away that person’s right to chose; to cast spells, do energywork, or otherwise compel them into line with your own will. This is where you cross the line into unethical behavior.

For example,

it’s o.k. to cast a spell to attract a loving romantic partner,
it’s not o.k. to cast a spell to make a specific person fall in love with you.
It’s o.k. to do energywork to be hired for a job if you’re the best candidate for it;
it’s not o.k. to do energywork to make someone else lose their job.

When you violate the Free Will of others, you’re doing an unethical act. Even if that doesn’t matter to you of itself, it’s worthy of note that this tends to attract negative energy and experiences back to you (something we can all live without!). Not the best choice on your part.

The one exception to this general rule is that, if someone is harming others, it can be ethical to magickally intervene. (We call this the “your-right-to-swing-your-fist-ends-at-the-tip-of-my-nose” proviso…) When you’re dealing with stalkers, batterers, pedophiles and the like, it is ethical to intervene to prevent harm or injury to people, animals or property, as long as you use the minimum force necessary to prevent said harm.(Grievious bodily harm to prevent your boss from yelling at you is right out…)

When living in a magickal world, it’s important to do things ethically, to respect the rights of others even if you don’t always agree with them. Your choices affect the world around you.

So chose wisely

Free Will Rocks!

And the topic for today is Free Will!

What is Free Will? It’s the basic concept that God, Goddess, the Universe or whoever/whatever you believe in (because opinions vary) has given you the ability to make choices-good, bad or in between. By making these choices, you have the ability to a certain extent to influence the kind of life you have (as an example, people who make better choices tend to have better lives, although this is not absolute.)

Some people believe that Free Will means that everything in your life is there because you attracted it to you. I have a more moderate view.

I believe that many things in our lives are there because we focused on them, whether good things or bad. Like does call to like, both magickally and in the everyday world (ever see how people group by types at parties?). If we give a majority of our time, energy and interest to things that anger or frighten us, we tend to not only draw more of what we’re focused on (that noisy neighbor) but other things that make us feel the same way (a flat tire, beauracracy, crank calls).

I also believe we can “drift into ” things we don’t like because we’re not focusing on the things we would prefer. When we’re not focusing on anything in particular and just drifting through life, I’ve observed that we seem to be more vulnerable to what I think of as “drive-by Karma” – that “wrong place-wrong time” situation.

This doesn’t mean I’m advocating a ” blame the victim/if it’s in your life, it’s your fault!…” mentality. Far from it!. I just believe that using our Free Will to make better choices stacks the cards in our favor in the Game of Life – and I’d rather play that game when the cards are with me…

So, here’s your chance.

Make some better choices and have a better life.
