The input is beginning to flow in from my beta readers. Haven’t heard from all of them yet, but I’ve put “The Swans of War” on standby circle and have started to work on “Living in Interesting Times” again.

And, as always, it’s fascinating.

I know my topic pretty well (that’s why I’m writing about it) but it’s always a revelation to see how other people view what I’ve written. The points I may have missed. The things that are explained well for me ( because I already know about them) but are still for someone coming from a different type of experience. The parts where I’ve been typing so intensely that I’ve missed some of the words in my head.

This is good for the quality of the books I’m putting out, but it’s also good for the bigger picture- as a reminder of how many points of view in the world and how many of us are different kinds of right.

Hope all’s right with you. Back to editing and rewriting.

Currently “Living in Interesting Times” is taking a vacation with my beta readers; and while it does, I’m back to working on “The Swans of War”, the sequel to my urban fantasy “The Lands That Lie Between”.

Over the weekend, I’d started looking for a good picture for the cover, and the search was taking more than a little time. I found pictures of swans that were

peaceful
beautiful
serene
loving
pretty much everything but war like

Now swans, as you may or may not know, are beautiful birds, but they are also big and aggressive. An angry swan can break a man’s arm with the swing of its wing; and, in my novel, these are Germanic swan shape shifters, who are martial barbarian nomads with heavy accents, anger management issues and impulse control problems.

A pretty swan meant for the front of a wedding invitation wouldn’t do.

So I had searched through page after page of “pretty but not the right” swans on Fotolia, Good Bye Tol Eressea, Hello Eldamar a site where you can purchase the rights to photos and illustrations, and I’d just about given up..

and then I found it.

Tentatively, here’s the picture for the cover of the Swans of War

and I’m doing the happy writer- publisher dance.

Third Editing Pass Complete

No home calls last Thursday, which gave me a lot more time to polish up the current manuscript on Living in Interesting Times and get it ready for my beta readers. I:

added a third visualization for time travel to the appendix,
roughed out and refined glossary definitions,
triple checked for errors, such as missing words and missing punctuation,
did a third read through of the entire thing and polished as I went,
confirmed email addresses for my betas, and sent out chapters to read at their convenience.

This manuscript has now gone on a vacation with my beta readers, and, while I’m waiting to hear back from everyone, I can go back to working on book two in my urban fantasy series.

The Impossible Writing Project is Complete…

…and now I’m back to work on my next book for public circulation

There’s an old vaudeville joke about a curse that goes “may you live in interesting times…”

well here we all are, living in those interesting times. That’s rough for just about everyone, and even rougher for folks who are psychically active or energetically sensitive.

And so, I’m writing a book about practical energetic techniques for living in interesting Female entrepreneur on the street with storm times. These are things that can help in times of great social upheaval, such as we have now, but also apply to personal challenges, like health issues, family emergencies, the loss of a job or other such times of chaos.

I’m just about to the point where I can start editing my rough draft, before running it by my beta readers, and doing any re-writes I need to do. Am hoping to have this out later this year.

Hoping your times are only as interesting as you like them to be
