…did you do NaNo?
If not, that’s fine.
If you did, how’d you do?
The official goal for NaNoWriMo is to write a 50 K first draft novel in 30 days. Many people don’t get all the way to 50 K but a surprising number of people do.
If you’re one of those folks who made 50K, congratulations. You have done something amazing, and, knowing that, it’s worth thinking about what other amazing things you might otherwise be able to do, if you set your mind to it.
But whether or not you made 50 K, it’s still good. My experience tells me that the act of trying Nano, no matter how many words you write, will put you head and shoulders above most of the people around you, teach you amazing things about yourself as a writer and give you confidence that will let you try other things that now seem impossible
And all of those things are things that will help you in our writing, and in life itself
so if you did NaNo, congratulations
and, for those of you who hit 50 K, remember that there are prizes that will be posted on Thursday, Dec 5th
