Well there’s a great resource on Facebook for those of us who love reading, like e-books and like a good freebie as well.

Check out Pagan E-Books for Free for an ongoing stream of e-books that are temporarily free to download.

Most of the books are for the Kindle but some are available for other formats as well.

Many of the books offered are on pagan subjects, but there are also quite a number on other spiritual paths, ghosts, psychic ability, self sufficiency, cooking and even writing(and the writer in me goes “Ooooooo! Free writing books”)

A Great Reference for Alternative Health

went to the Natural Living Expo in Marlboro, Ma this weekend and stumbled half by accident into a wonderful talk by Burke Lennihan on alternative approaches to dealing with common health issues. She’s into homeopathy, so many of her suggestions were about that but she also had a lot to say about other approaches such as nutrition, vitamins, minerals and many other methods of supporting your own body’s ability to heal itself.

A great lecture. If you ever get a chance to see her talk, run, don’t walk, to get your space for this talk.

But if you can’t or until you can…

As part of the lecture, Ms Lennihan gave away a copy of her book “Your Natural Medicine Cabinet: a Practical Guide to Drug-Free Remedies for Common Ailments” .

It’s wonderful. It’s a very complete yet readable book on alternative health approaches to challenge such as nausea, flu, sinus and anxiety , offering both quick fixes and ongoing care for these situations. A great “feeling-of-what-do- I-do-now” home reference for each and every one of us.

If you were not lucky enough to see her lecture and get her book then, you can follow the links in this post and learn more about this great book. I think every house would benefit from having a copy.

So earlier this week I talked about the end of our silly season and how we were dropping back into a more relaxed and leisurely rate of living.

Except that we aren’t really. Because there’s a lot of stuff that we put on hold while we were so busy that we now have to catch up on, and the holidays are coming, and it’s NaNoWriMo time and there are so many interesting things to do…

So we’re slowing down, but we’re not really slowing down

and my body is beginning to talk to me about that

Little aches. Stuffed up nose. little sore throat

My body is telling me that I’ve done great things but now its time to throttle back and be only slightly less awesome

OK. I hear ya body. And I’ll try my best to drop to a different state of balance. To drop out of warp drive.

…and into more leisurely time of the year.

Relatively speaking of course.

We’re always kinda busy here at Chez Foresight. We got lotsa different things on our plates and are always eager to learn something/make something/do something.

But some times of the year are more busy than others.

One of our busy times is the end of August through the early part of November. We call that the “silly season” because during that time, we’re doing events almost every weekend, preparing for other events ahead, and I’m finishing off my new book for the year, which takes a good deal of effort. That’s in addition to all of the regular things like job, home care, groceries and laundry that are always on the list.

Well, we’ve just passed the last event of the silly season and now I’ll have more time to sit back and relax. All I’ll be doing is

packing away the faire equipment
doing NaNoWriMo, which involves writing a 50,000 word first draft novel in 30 days
blogging here and on my other blog http://www.CatherineKaneWrites.wordpress.com
preparing for and celebrating Starwolf’s birthday
shopping and making gifts for Christmas
getting back to that magazine article I’ve been asked to revise
and various other bits and pieces.

(*sits back and looks at list*)

Huh.

Maybe this isn’t the restful season yet…
