Happy Birthday- and Where Has the Year Gone?

Where has the year gone?

We’re galloping towards my 55th birthday on Monday, July 22nd, and it seems like the year is slipping by like lightning. There were lots of things I’d planned to do with this year. Some of them I have- and some of them I haven’t- and to be this far into the year with those things still to do could be a daunting thing.

I’ll tell you a secret though. It isn’t- and it doesn’t have to be.

Everyday is a new day, bright and shining and full of promise. Everyday is a new beginning, a new chance to accomplish something amazing. Everyday is a new chance, a chance to find joy and meaning and the secret to what you are here to do in this world.

Every day.

When I was young, my family was often on a summer trip during my birthday. I’d have one birthday celebration with my family on my birthday itself and another with my friends when I got home- and so the concept of the birthday week was born. Little celebrations and delights spread out over time, making life that much sweeter and more magical.

And now I’m in my birthday week- and I’ll be spending part of it looking at what I still want to accomplish in my life in this year and getting prepared for a new kick-off for my dreams.

It’s my birthday week- but if you like, it can be yours too.
