This week I’m going to focus on one of my favorite crystal powerhouses, the Herkimer Diamond.
 These are naturally occurring  double terminated quartz crystals. Ranging  from pin head to fist  sized, they are found, appropriately, in the area of Herkimer, N.Y. They are also unique in that, unlike most other quartz, they do not require an acid cleaning to appear clear and shiny. You can find them in rock shops, online, or you can go to Herkimer and rent time at a mine and dig them yourself . Indeed some of the motels in Herkimer have their own attached digging sites.
