We’ve been talking about blocks to manifestation. About how some of them are sent to test our resolve, while some of them are indications that we’re on the wrong path.
One of the reasons we may find manifestation blocks is because we’re trying to manifest one thing when we really want/ need another.
Like the guy who tries to manifest a sports car when what he really wants is to feel young and desirable.
Or the woman who tries to manifest a romantic partner when what she really wants is to feel good about herself – a feeling that she believes external validation will give her.
When this happens, often manifestation will grind to a halt;
Or worse, the person will manifest what he asked for only to find that it makes him unhappy(the insurance on the sports car and the high maintenance spouse being two examples..).
So how do we overcome this kind of block?
We ask ourself the magic question –
“Why do I want this?”
( My husband says that “Why” is my favorite word :-)…..)
Why does one want to manifest a lottery win?
Because you’d like to have a lot of money.
Why do you want that?
Because enough money would let you quit your job and spend more time doing the things you love.
Why do you want that?
Because you love doing those things but don’t have enough time to do them right now.
So, at that point, a lottery win is nice, and money would be welcome, but what you really need to be focusing on is manifesting the freedom, time and energy to do the things you love.
And a lottery win is only one possible way this could happen…
See how that works?
Many times, you’ll find that the “Why” boils down to a feeling or state of being, such as status, self-esteem, freedom or safety.
Not always though. The guy who’s trying to manifest a car may really need it ( although what he needs may be reliable transformation, as opposed to a specific SUV).
They say that when you’re climbing the ladder of success, it’s important to be sure that your ladder is leaning against the right wall. In manifestation, lean that ladder to the proper side, and watch this kind of obstacle melt away…
We’ll be looking at other blocks on the road ahead…

I think you meant “reliable transportation”, not transformation … but other than that, you nailed it.
Question … what if the only way one knows to attain their preferred state of being is by winning the lottery? Do we request to manifest the state of being and trust that it will happen, hopefully recognizing the manifestation as what it is when is arrives?
Case in point; your lottery scenario is spot on for me and, undoubtedly, many other people as well. What I really want to manifest is the time and freedom to pursue and implement the changes I think need to be made to the world around me. I would also like to be taken seriously … namely by people who would negate the need to win the lottery.
How do I know which wall to lean my ladder against? Clearly, my current wall is incorrect. Or is that just my perception? This is very complicated. I believe I need to know how to recognize the right things from the wrong ones without the benefit of hindsight.
Hi Gina
You’re right on on my typo(although I do think “reliable transformation” sounds like a good goal too, now that you call it to my attention
I’d say that, given your example, that, since what you want is time and freedom to pursue making the changes in the world around you that you think are necessary. You see winning the lottery is the way to get there.
The experts in manifestation seem to agree that it’s important to focus on what you really want (time and freedom), and leave the “hows” (such as a lottery win) up to the Universe .
So, possible “hows” to your dream could be a lottery win. Or a government grant.
Or a mysterious benefactor.
Or finding more effective ways that take less time and effort to achieve those changes.
Or charitable donations.
Or finding other people who will work on your dream with you.
Or cutting your expenses so you can work fewer hours and give more time to your dream.
Or connecting up with the right people who make it easier to acheive your dream.
And that’s off the top of my head…
If you try to manifest the dream, and leave the “hows”up to the Universe, you’ll find that more “co-incidences” and oppurtunities start just “popping up”…
So, in this case, the l;ottery win would be the wrong wall,
Your dreams a reality would be the right one…
Hope that’s a help….

I guess I should have left that first part out … it was more hypothetical than attached to my own situation. I think my understanding of this concept is on target for the most part.
Where I’m at right now is wondering if the things I feel I need to do are really my life’s work or just some weird kind of atonement. I’ve been trying to use dream work to get to the root of purpose … I think I may be getting closer, but it’s slow going. I’m not remembering enough to make any sense of it even with clearly stated intentions beforehand. I know; these things take time.
Thanks for the help.
Hi Gina
Have you tried some of the ways of clarifying your Life Mission I posted in January? Type “Life Mission” into the search box to find them.
Dreams are a good way to get at this kind of knowledge. So is asking yourself something like “If I knew what my Life Mission was, what would it be?” (Yes, I know it sounds silly, but it’s so interesting how often questions like this work…)
Atonement, eh? What would lead you to that? It’s fine when karmic debts lead us to our dreams, but not when they lock us into work. Which does this feel like?
Most of all, I’d try that “why do I want this?” question I was using about manifestation. It’s pretty helpful in getting at the truth…
Does that help? I’m willing to backstop your awareness more if you need me to….

Hi, I can’t understand how to add your site in my rss reader. Can you Help me, please
I’m sorry. I’m great with spiritual, metaphysical, alt health and personal improvement things, but I’m technologically challenged, so I don’t know how to help you on this. When I linked, I followed the directions and it worked.
If you can’t make it work this way, might I suggest bookmarking us and coming back regularly? We try to post at least 3x /week (usually Sunday, Tuesday anf Thursday)…

Yes, been following for almost a year now. I often use your posts to jump-start my own, writing out my responses to your notes in my own blog to refer back to later. Journaling and dream work are things I’ve been doing for most of my life.
Today, I’m moving on to your new post so as not to get bogged down in this on. I understand it’s an on-going process, and I think I AM getting somewhere. Life just never moves fast enough for me:)
Hi Gina
I’m honored that this blog is of use to you. It’s what I hope for it- to be of service to folks, especially ones I don’t see directly.
Gosh I hear the impatience thing. When I have a dream burning in my belly, I want it now :-). Patience is something that helps me, but I do want to fly diretly to my dreams and it sometimes seems to take forever.
Right up to the point that it suddenly manifests….
If I’m patient…
If I keep my energy positive….
If I keep moving forwards…
Even in baby steps….

By the by, I also often use your comments as cues for things that might be helpful for me to write about.
So thank you for helping me to be more useful 🙂
