Archive for September, 2010

Six weeks after Lammas comes the Autumn Equinox, on or about the 21st of September. This is another “balance festivals” when neither light nor darkness holds majority. It is also the time of the Apple harvest when you can divine the name of your future mate by throwing apple peelings over your shoulder and seeing what letter forms.

We’ve done a lot of talking on this blog about manifesting things we want. About how if we chose an objective, focus our energy and clear or avoid beliefs that limit us, amazing things can happen.

And the things we chose come into our lives in amazing ways.

Sometimes, that’s all you need to do. But sometimes it’s not.

Sometimes you set your focus and things start to happen, and suddenly obstacles start to pop up.

Signs and portents, such as “Detour”, “Stop”, “No Entrance”, or “Authorized Personnel Only”…

So what’s up with that?

Some things are easy to manifest. And oddly enough, that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with how big or small they are. (All other things being equal, a house is as easy to manifest as a parking space….)

But sometimes, we’ll start to manifest something only to find that we start to encounter obstacles/challenges/bumps in the road. This seems to happen more frequently when we’re working on goals concerning who we want to be, as opposed to things we want to have.

Now opposition can sometimes mean that we’re headed in the wrong direction; but often challenges such as these are obstacles sent to test our resolve. It’s very like the story seen in fairy tales or on the classic Hero’s Quest – the bottomless gorge or shadow knight or unsolvable puzzle are there to determine whether you will truly hang onto that Dream, and find in yourself what it needs from you.

Passing the test shows that you are worthy to live the Dream. Passing the test makes you stronger/wiser/more compassionate in order to live the Dream. Passing the test will strengthen your commitment to your Dream.

Many times, manifestation is breathtakingly easy. But sometimes, when you want something big (such as to live your Life Mission), you’ll need to look the Dragon in the eye and kick his posterior off of your path to show that this is what you really are committed to.

You overcome your challenge, doing 7% of the process and showing that you are resolved to have your Dream. In response, the Universe does 93% and brings your Dream to you.

Manifestation is easy…

And often our experience of it will be easy…

And sometimes, it will be more challenging. To strengthen our commitment to our path. To clarify whether this path is really the one we want. To prove to ourselves and the Universe that this is where we want to go.

So, how do you know if an obstacle is a test or a sign that you’re on the wrong path?

More signs coming….

Back at the end of August, I mentioned that I was working on the editing of the manuscript for my first book “Adventures in Palmistry”.

This book is a combination of a 52 chapter course on the system I use for reading palms,  stories from my 40 years in palmistry, and a variety of additional “hand notes” of information about palms not previously released in print. It’s based on my live and on-line classes that make learning to read palms easy and fun.

For those of you who follow these things, I’m tickled to say that the primary editing is complete!(thank goodness!) and the manuscript is off to the printer for their attentions.

I invite you to do the “Thank-Heavens-the-major-editing-process-is-over-and-now-I-can-get-back-to other-things-like-writing” dance with me.

(Cue theme music….)

True enough, I’ve still got the cover copy and layout to complete, but that’s still easier than the 352 page manuscript.

Just wanted to share my happy with you 🙂

See you soon

Following Mid-Summer is the first of the harvest celebrations, Lammas, celebrated on Aug. 2nd. This is the first of the Harvest festivals, specifically the grain harvest. Some of the customs around Lammas  include making corn dollies, abstaining from meat between sunup and sundown (Herne’s Blessing), and burning straw men.

Hi there

Doing dream work to tap into your inner wisdom or for manifestation? Here’s another quick tip.

You’re having one of those important dreams…

You know, the one that holds the missing piece of information you need that’s been hiding out in your subconscious or in the Cosm that lies beyond…

You’re just about to see the answer……

………

……..

Then the alarm rings. The dog jumps on the bed. You get a cramp in your calf.

And the dream slips out of your grasp.

Don’t panic.

Get up, turn off the alarm, visit the facilities and do whatever else needs doing immediately.

Try not to talk or think too much. The more you can stay in that half-awake state, the easier it’ll be to return to the dream.

As soon as you can, return to bed. Many times lying in the same position you woke up in can be helpful.

Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and relax your muscles. Cast your mind to the last bit of the dream that you remember. And set your intent to continue the dream from where you left off…

Most of all, don’t panic. Relax. Don’t force it-let it. The adrenalin of trying too hard is in direct conflict with reaching the dream state.

So let go and let it flow…

If you don’t go back within 15-20 minutes, get up and do something else for a while. Then try again later. This lets your mind sneak up on the dream if it’s playing coy.

And know that you’ll get there.

Want more info on interpreting your dreams and actively working with them? We’ve got a whole series on dream work waiting for you in posts from October to December of 2009.(Check the category “Dreams”)

Sweet dreams

Hi folks,

Once more, we dive into the adventure and romance of the Renaissance faire… (We’re just adventurous and romantic that way…)

We’re starting out the current season of chivalry on September 18 and 19 at the Lakewood Renaissance Faire at Pine Park in Lakewood, N.J.

There’ll be jousting and magic, singing and dancing, knights and pirates and maidens fair,

And wolves, I understand. Both four-legged and two-legged…

(Check the link above for more info on the faire and some lovely video.)

You’ll find the psychics of Foresight at the Sooth Booth of the East Kingdom Soothsayer’s guild. We’d love it if you stopped by to say hello (and get a reading if you’re so inclined :-)….)

And there’s more adventure on the horizon…

In my last post, I was talking about questioning the concept that good luck is rare and hard to come by…

How, if we chose to believe that good luck was easy and accessible instead, we might find that our beliefs shaped our reality (as they so often do) and that good fortune became our frequent visitor (or even move onto the sofa bed we keep for guests….)

Got a great comment on this from Gina, one of you folks that come by to visit. (Check it out if you like. I find it rather interesting…)

She talked about the beliefs she carries from her childhood and wonders if the childhood superstitions we hold onto give our unconscious/intuitive side a way to send our conscious sides a signal of good things on the way.

For instance, if you believe “See a penny. Pick it up, and all the day you’ll have good luck.” , might your more metaphysical side start putting pennies in your path as a sign to expect the positive experiences looming immediately ahead?…

Wow.

Now that has my mind going all kinds of fascinating directions.

I’ve seen people manifest serious health problems to escape from intolerable situations. I’ve heard of  folks who repeatedly win the lottery. I’ve sat with folks that could tell you the names of folks they’ve never met, see the past or future, or manifest transportation, lodgings or assistance out of nowhere.

After that, the idea that your Higher Self might create a penny or make your palm itch to cue you in to start looking for the next good thing seems quite a reasonable concept to me.

Years ago, in classic type seances, the participants would start by saying “Show me yes.” “Show me no.” The informative spirit would indicate a number of knocks or rockings of the table for each answer. And a code for communication would be established.

And one possibility is that these old beliefs can serve in the same way, as codes to let us know what’s coming.

I do believe that it’s useful to chose beliefs that support our joy, peace, health, prosperity and personal growth. I think that adding more beliefs that serve us can help us shape reality around us.

But it’s also useful to know that the beliefs we already have can be useful in helping us contact our inner wisdom.

That rocks!

Catch you next time
