It’s time to get your Muse on…

This Saturday on March 23, I’ll be teaching a workshop on creativity for writers and other creative people from 2-6 pm at La Quinta Inn, 116 Newtown Rd, Danbury, Ct.

“So, where do you get your ideas..?”

One of the key tools in writing is creativity. Whether you’re putting your own spin on a familiar topic or telling a whole new story, creativity’s what makes your writing interesting, readable and uniquely yours.

What do you do when you go to the well of creativity, and the well’s gone dry? When you’re stuck, blocked or can’t come up with a new idea? What if you’ve always had a problem thinking creatively?

This practical “play-shop” is a hands-on, experiential class on how creativity works, and lots of easy ways to get in touch with your own creative spirit. You’ll learn about:

The neurological side of creativity. How stimulating your brain can improve your writing.
How fear blocks creativity. How to face those fears and stomp them flat.
Building surroundings that support your creativity, as opposed to draining it.
Breaking free of mental ruts, and the tyranny of “the right answer.”
A toolbox full of techniques to help you get in touch with your natural creativity.
How to develop a “creativity plan” that specifically meets your unique needs.
And a whole lot more…

This is not a “one size fits all” universe. For this reason, this class is packed full of an assortment of ways to get creative, so you can find the ones that work best for you. Come prepared to participate, learn something and have a good time while you do it.

Rather late in posting today. Sorry, folks. I try to be reliable

I’m huddled here right now over the keyboard to my computer, writing this post as I print out the final handouts for my classes at Changing Times, Changing Worlds (and remembering how much two sided handouts are when you must do them manually …)

This year at the convention, I’ve ended up on three panels, doing a booksigning and running a totally amateur tea leaf reading experience , as well as teaching five classes. That and the fact that I hope to catch other people’s classes and panels, as well as meet some old friends and make some new ones means that I’m going to be a busy little Fairy Godmother.

Five classes- and three of them are brand new for this year’s con. I’m also remembering why its good to be teaching new classes and writing about new things. They say that, if you want to really learn something, teach it. My classes are all on things that I know, but, in setting them up to teach them, I’m seeing things about them I hadn’t seen before and I’m learning new dimensions of them.

Worth considering.

Connecticut Pagan Pride Day is Almost Here (Time Sensitive)

This Saturday is Connecticut Pagan Pride Day from 10-6 at the VFW in Berlin, CT. Pagan pride days are held throughout the country as a way for pagans to come together and for non-pagans to learn more about people who follow these special spiritual paths.

There’ll be lots of great vendors there and interesting classes, as well as a group ritual at 1 pm that everyone is welcome to attend. There are collections being taken of supplies for food pantries, the Connecticut Humane Society and pagans in our military (check the website for a list of items that are needed).

Foresight will be there, doing readings and selling Cathy’s books, including her new urban fantasy novel “The Lands That Lie Between”. Starwolf will be one of the day’s teachers and will be teaching a class on ”Practical Grounding and Centering” at 10:30.
